Waste Not

Waste Not

Landfills around the world are growing by the minute. They pollute everything around them, poisoning air, food, and water. There seems to be an endless supply of waste.
A small business can contribute to problem-solving. Every operation has waste. Every process can be more efficient.

An acquaintance had been off work for quite a while because of a serious injury. His part of the operation included dealing with scrap. He complained to me that no one had taken care of the problem while he was out. Ther was a huge amount of scrap metal from the production line, Now, he was stuck trying to find someone to haul it all off. I asked why he wasn’t calling a scrap dealer to buy it. It was one of those smack-in-the-forehead moments. The company had always sent it to the landfill. He found a very happy dealer the next day.
